10 14 negative self talk how did those critical voices get in there

Listen to that voice in your head for a moment. The one that says "not good enough" or "I'll be happy when I finally..." Where did it come from? You weren't born with it. Babies don't arrive thinking they can't do anything right. So whose voice is that? Often it's an echo from childhood—parents, teachers, siblings—people who meant well but accidentally planted seeds of doubt. And now, decades later, that voice still runs the show.
 
The focus for today is:
If many of my redundant and negative thoughts can be traced back to my childhood, then what is my authentic self?

We grow up in a competitive society where children are constantly pushed to achieve. Even positive statements like "You'll do better next time" may have unintentionally informed us that we were failures in some way. In adulthood, all of that wounding adds up to low self-worth and feeling only conditionally lovable. But here's the key: mindfulness teaches us to cultivate nonreactivity. When those old triggers fire—when family dynamics push our buttons—we can choose to simply observe instead of react. We can think, "Wow, isn't that interesting! All my childhood buttons are being pushed right now!" And then make healthier choices.
