The thoughts running through your head right now — are they kind? Or are they the same critical voices you've been carrying since childhood, telling you you're not good enough, not safe enough, not worthy enough? Most of us treat ourselves with a harshness we'd never inflict on anyone we loved. We repeat negative scripts so automatically we don't even notice. But those thoughts aren't facts. They're habits. And habits can change.
The focus for today is:
I have everything I need inside myself to get better. Every day in every way I am getting better and better. I am a wonderful person. I deserve good health.
Today's message is inspired by Shirley Trickett, author of the book: Anxiety & Depression: A Natural Approach
Shirley explains how cognitive therapy — simply changing your thinking through repeated self-talk — can break the vicious circle of negative thoughts. Just like practicing a difficult phrase on an instrument until you get it right, you can practice replacing fear with encouragement. She shares the story of Paula, who carried buried rage for decades until it finally erupted — and the release brought healing. As Shirley writes: "Salvation comes when we learn to forgive and love ourselves as vulnerable human beings." Today's invitation is to write down one negative thought you repeat often, then write its opposite. Practice saying the new version until it becomes automatic.
